Job Title: Vocational Specialist for Young People

This is a dynamic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Vocational Specialist to join our team at headspace Mackay.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, youth work, career development, or a related field. They will be passionate about working with young people, including those from diverse backgrounds, and have a deep understanding of the challenges they face in accessing work and education.

The role involves providing individualized support to young people who are facing barriers to employment or education, often due to mental health challenges. Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, you will help young people set goals, build confidence, and connect with employers, training providers, and education services to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of young people referred through headspace Mackay;
  • Co-designing career profiles and employment plans with each participant;
  • Providing hands-on support with job searching, applications, and interview preparation;
  • Partnering with local employers to open opportunities and provide workplace support;
  • Maintaining strong connections with education providers, employment agencies, and community services;
  • Delivering culturally safe, youth-friendly services that empower young people to succeed;
