We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated tutor to support students pursuing entry into Victoria's selective high schools.

The Victorian Select Entry Assistant Tutor role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young students through small-group and 1-on-1 tutoring using high-quality teaching materials in a collaborative team environment.

About the Role

This position involves supporting engaging 2-hour Select Entry classes for small groups of 6-12 students across Years 6-8, covering Mathematics (Reasoning / Quantitative subtests), English (Reading / Verbal subtests), and Writing (Creative / Persuasive subtests).

  1. Weekly Group Classes: Provide content delivery, targeted practice, and assessments to evaluate progress.
  2. In each session, follow a structured three-part approach.
  3. Writing: Mark student submissions and provide prompt, targeted feedback; this marking work is flexible and fully compensated.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with specific questions, clarify challenging concepts, and reinforce topics to accelerate understanding during 1-on-1 Tutoring Sessions.
  • Respond to student queries via our messaging platform, offering guidance on exam preparation and study strategies.
  • Complete initial training, participate in occasional team meetings, and assist with basic resource review to maintain program quality.
Requirements
  • Candidates must have attended a Victorian selective school.
  • High academic achievement preferred and experience with competitive exams.
  • Demonstrated passion for education and tutoring or mentoring experience with younger students.
