About the Role

We are seeking compassionate individuals to provide emotional support and companionship to patients in need at our hospital in Penrith. As a valued member of our team, you will play a vital role in enhancing patient experience by offering a warm welcome, empathy, and reassurance to patients and their families.

You will have the opportunity to engage with patients through various activities such as playing board games, reading, or participating in conversations. Additionally, you will assist with physical feeding and drinking when necessary, and collaborate with healthcare assistants and nurses on the ward by replenishing drinks, sitting with patients, and completing errands.

About the Program

The Volunteer to Career (VtC) program is a partnership between North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and Cumberland Council. This initiative aims to address staffing shortages in the NHS by encouraging volunteers to pursue a career in healthcare.

The program is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is only open to applicants residing within the Cumberland Council boundary.
