Job Opportunity: Security Advisor and Risk Assurance Officer

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Security Advisor and Risk Assurance Officer. This key role will be responsible for ensuring unit security compliance and providing expert advice on physical, digital, and personal security matters.

About the Role

In this dynamic position, you will be part of a small group of professionals dedicated to managing Workplace Health and Safety, Facilities Management, Security, and Unit Equipment Management activities. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality services, ensuring the safety and security of our environment, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure unit security compliance in accordance with Defence Security Principles Framework and associated directives
  • Develop and deliver security risk management and protective security training to stakeholders
  • Liaise with support agencies to stay informed about changing threats
  • Oversee, coordinate, and maintain JLU (SQ)'s Risk Management Plan
  • Conduct regular education and training activities for Commonwealth partners
  • Deliver technical reviews to identify performance improvement and culture change opportunities
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security threat environment to contextualise security threats
