Role Overview:

We are seeking an Aboriginal Mental Health Trainee to join our Whole Family Team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing culturally informed mental health services to families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work within the Mental Health team and contribute to the development and coordination of therapeutic interventions to whole families where child protection concerns have been identified with a coexisting drug and/or alcohol and/or mental health problem.
  • To provide advice and cultural support to non-Aboriginal peers to improve cultural safety for families accessing support through Whole Family Team.
  • To participate in the multidisciplinary team, working under supervision and contributing to the assessment and treatment approaches that consider social, cultural and historical contexts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) degree
  • Ability to work under supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong understanding of culturally informed assessment and treatment approaches
