About the Role

The Enterprise Integration Services team is seeking a highly skilled Chapter Lead to join our team. As a Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineering professionals and working closely with other squad members to deliver integration solutions across platforms.

You will be responsible for managing up to 10 engineering professionals, supporting the Capability Area Lead to achieve tribe objectives, and partnering with the Product Owner to lead the home technology squad. Additionally, you will resolve complex problems around people-related issues, provide design leadership, and role model strategic behaviors for technology development.

The ideal candidate will have a background in software/platform engineering, combined with broad capabilities and experience to innovate and adapt to the latest developments, technologies, and tooling. You will also have experience in one or more software development roles, such as Integration Engineer or Platform Operations Engineer.

  • Develop chapter members to build existing skills in software development, coding, and automation

  • Mentor, coach, and advise junior employees about how to build, assemble, code, and deploy effective solutions
  • Create career opportunities for chapter members to achieve personal growth, knowledge development, and promotion
  • Contributes to a culture within the Technology Area and the Engineering Chapter encouraging collaboration, continual learning, and improvement
  • Assists with ongoing support for platforms as required, e.g., problem and incident management
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation, ensuring that published specifications accurately reflect the real world
  • Participates in meetings with squad members to estimate, plan, and deliver integration solutions as part of strategic and bank-wide initiatives
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to the Product Owner
Requirements
  • Management of up to 10 engineering professionals, in multiple disciplines
  • Support Capability Area Lead to achieve tribe objectives
  • Partnership with Product Owner to lead home technology squad
  • Resolve complex problems around people-related issues
  • Provide design leadership and role model strategic behaviors for technology development
  • Vendor and Contract management
  • Participate proactively in the formation and evolution of the strategic technology roadmap
  • Be a leading figure in the actualisation, implementation, and benefit realisation of the strategic technology roadmap
  • Background in Software/platform Engineering combined with broad capabilities and experience to innovate and adapt to the latest developments, technologies, and tooling
  • Some experience in one or more software development roles previously, e.g., Integration Engineer, Platform Operations Engineer
Specialised Skills

We are looking for T-shaped individuals (expert in some, experienced in others) across these skillsets:

  • Good command in Kafka Platform Architecture and Design
  • Good command in Kafka Platform Implementation on GKE or EKS clusters (Confluent for Kubernetes (CFK) Experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding and experience on AWS/GCP cloud
  • Experience in Kafka connectors, replicators, and security aspects
  • Strong understanding on Event Driven design and development
  • Java stream processing implementation and design
  • Experience in Flink Data Streaming Platform
  • Micro-Service Driven Architecture and design
  • Strong understanding on Observability Tools (Grafana-Prometheus) and Frameworks
  • DevOps – Infrastructure as Code Mentality
