Reliable Mechanic

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine inspections, repairs, refurbishments, overhauls, and upgrades of AUV mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues by conducting component and subsystem-level tests, collaborating with engineers and other trades to resolve complex problems.
  • Operate the Maintenance Management System (MMS), ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities, parts and consumables consumption.
  • Participate in underway Sea testing of AUVs leaving factory or maintenance environments.
  • Support the development, review, and trial of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation for AUV maintenance activities operations.
  • Assist with preparing risk assessments for maintenance and test operations, identifying and implementing mitigations.
  • Provide constructive feedback to design and manufacturing teams for ongoing evolution.
  • Be prepared to deploy to the field to perform emergency repairs when necessary, potentially in challenging conditions or adverse weather.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years experience in maintenance of mechanical systems or structures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-tool skills.
  • Vocational training in mechanical trades or associate degree ideal.
  • Maritime trade background desirable as well as subsea experience or autonomous vehicle operation (any domain).
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, equipment schematics etc.).
  • Experience performing component, subsystem, and system-level tests and diagnosing/escalating issues discovered during these processes.
  • Exposure to operation of Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Maritime/forklift/crane qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • A commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NV2 Security Clearance.

Salary range: AU$65,000 - AU$75,000 per year.
