**About the Role:**

The Organic Chemistry Laboratory at the National Measurement Institute provides technical expertise and analytical services across various sectors. Our laboratory consists of approximately twenty staff members, conducting trace organic chemical analyses on a wide range of sample types.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform extraction, analysis, and reporting of veterinary analytes in animal tissue or environmental pollutants.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair gas or liquid chromatography mass spectrometer instruments for analyzing a wide range of organic chemical contaminants.

**Requirements:**

  • Demonstrated experience with gas or liquid chromatography instruments coupled to mass spectrometry.
  • Independent extraction and analysis of veterinary analytes or environmental pollutants in a fast turnaround time environment.
  • Developing methods for analyzing veterinary analytes or priority environmental pollutants.
  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Consistently exhibiting NMI values such as adaptability, accountability, innovation, inclusivity, influence, and strategy.

**What You Will Do:**

Work within the Organic Chemistry Laboratory in NMI North Ryde, part of the Food or Environment Testing Teams. Report to the Team Leader and assume leadership duties in their absence.
