We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate classroom teacher to fill a fixed term, full-time vacancy in our Digital Technology learning area at our Wheelers Hill Campus.
About the Role:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated educator with expertise in teaching Applied Computing/Software Development to join our esteemed educational institution. As a Digital Technology Educator - Software Development Specialist, you will captivate and stimulate students through innovative learning technologies and forward-thinking teaching practices.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning programs that demonstrate research-based knowledge of how students learn. Your passion for development of innovative digital technologies curriculum will drive your teaching approach, ensuring students are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Design: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that integrate formative assessment techniques, cater for individual students' needs, and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities that showcase your expertise in software development and digital technologies.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Review and assess students regularly, providing constructive feedback to inform planning and drive student progress.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in digital technologies education.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A Teaching Qualification and current VIT Registration
- Proven experience teaching Digital Technology to Years 7-12
- Expertise in teaching Applied Computing/Software Development
- Knowledge and experience with programming languages, including Python and JavaScript
- Familiarity with microcontrollers and physical computing desirable
- An understanding of IB philosophy and the MYP curriculum framework is a strong advantage
