Strategic Planning Opportunity

Drive place-based planning and shape the future of our communities through informed decisions, effective collaboration, and smart strategies.

Job Role:

As a Strategic Planner, you will lead and manage strategic land use and planning policy initiatives. This pivotal role requires driving place-based planning, coordinating amendments to planning frameworks, and fostering inclusive engagement with communities and stakeholders.

Developing and implementing strategic plans and policies that support long-term sustainability and community needs is key to your success in this role.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and the broader community to deliver planning outcomes that support a high-quality natural and built environment.
  • Conduct analysis and site visits to critically assess local opportunities and constraints, as well as broader contexts of planning frameworks.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality, coherent, and professional plans and reports on strategic planning matters to a wide audience.
Key Qualifications:
  1. Degree in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Science, Urban Design, or Architecture.
  2. Technical knowledge and experience in strategic land use planning, and application of relevant environmental and planning legislation and regulations.
  3. Ability to conduct analysis, attend sites, and assess broader contexts of planning frameworks.
  4. Resilience, analytical, and problem-solving skills, time management, and flexibility.
  5. Experience in engaging and influencing through clear, concise, and accurate communication style.
  6. Ability to build professional relationships within the development industry and the community.
  7. Creative and critical thinking techniques to shape the development and implementation of place-based plans and strategies.
  8. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
