Project OverviewThe project aims to investigate the issues surrounding waste management in remote northern Australian agricultural enterprises, with a focus on the disposal of problematic waste streams such as tyres. The researcher will work closely with industry partners, including Tyre Stewardship Australia and a major pastoral company, to develop novel approaches to manage this critical waste stream.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on waste management practices in northern Australia, with a focus on the circular economy and waste reduction.
- Develop and implement novel approaches to manage problematic waste streams, including tyres.
- Collaborate with industry partners to ensure the research is relevant and applicable to real-world scenarios.
- Travel to remote northern Australian locations to conduct fieldwork and gather data.
- First-class Honours degree or a Masters degree containing a substantial research component in science or social science.
- Strong research background and academic merit.
- Ability to work independently and show a high level of initiative.
- Willingness to travel to remote areas of northern Australia.
- Australian (or equivalent) driving license, or willingness to obtain one soon after starting the PhD.
- Opportunity to work closely with industry partners and contribute to the development of novel waste management approaches.
