Key Responsibilities

  • Better experience of care through integrated and coordinated service models (with a particular focus on headspace centres, child and adolescent mental health services, hospitals, and schools)
  • Avoidance of unnecessary hospitalisations through timely access to appropriate and targeted clinical care
  • Active use of a multiagency care plan for young people with, or at risk of, severe and complex mental illness, to help link providers across multiple services involved in a young person's care
  • Improved support for families and carers of young people experiencing severe mental illness
Priority Populations

The priority populations will include young people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, young people experiencing social and/or economic disadvantage, young people at risk of withdrawing from education or employment, young people who have experienced trauma, and young people who are at risk of hospitalisation.
