Project Manager Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned IT Project Manager to lead a high-impact software modernisation initiative.

Job Description

The successful candidate will oversee the development and enhancement of a nationally significant environmental modelling system, integrating spatial datasets, climate data, and satellite imagery to support national carbon reporting and environmental analysis.

  • Lead a diverse team of developers, scientists, geospatial experts, and IT professionals to modernise a complex software suite used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions from Australia's land sector.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary IT project teams across remote and in-office settings.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable software improvements.
Key Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary IT teams (30%).
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines (20%).
  • Experience working within enterprise-wide systems and architectures (20%).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills (15%).
  • Ability to translate technical challenges into executive-level insights (15%).
Benefits

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement with minimum 40% in-office time and flexible remote options available. The contract duration is 12 months, with up to 2 x 12-month extensions.
