Job Overview

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to join the Cargo Helicopter and Uncrewed Surveillance Program Office (CHUSPO) in a challenging and rewarding role.

About the Role

In this position, you will be responsible for performing complex electronics-electrical engineering work within an integrated workforce. You will ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • You will investigate electrical/electronics and engineering concepts to deliver solutions that meet Defence's needs.
  • You will manage specifications and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle.
  • You will investigate, analyse, and report on electrical-electronics engineering defects and requirements.
  • You will develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Show initiative and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Perform critical and complex engineering activities and provide advice in the field of electronics-electrical engineering under broad direction.
  • Apply electrical-electronics engineering knowledge and experience to identify issues and take these into account in planning, decision making, and priority setting.
  • Work with broad supervision to identify issues and solve problems while communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate that the delivered materiel meets requirements and legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks, provide recommendations, and contribute to the implementation of actions.
  • Monitor and ensure safety aspects of uncrewed aerial systems are considered and incorporated into electronics-electrical engineering activities.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and actively participate in team work.
  • Manage workflows, resources, and work area plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this role is $95,000 - $130,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
