Leadership Opportunity - Assistant Principal Role

This is an exceptional chance for a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Principal to join our vibrant school community. Lightning Ridge Central School is a thriving outback school that values inclusivity, diversity, and academic excellence.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of exemplary classroom practice, educational leadership, and ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community. They will be able to lead and model evidence-based practices, collaborate with the executive team, and contribute to a school-wide culture focused on high performance, continuous improvement, and data-informed decision-making.

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative leader who can:

  1. Teach infants and primary (K-6) with demonstrated capacity and experience in balancing exemplary classroom practice and coordination of the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal.
  2. Build authentic connections and collaboration with students, staff, parents, and the community to strengthen educational partnerships that improve student outcomes.
  3. Lead, model, and implement evidence-based and data-driven practices using the new syllabuses, with a focus on high expectations to ensure the continuous improvements of outcomes in literacy and numeracy for all students.
  4. Collaborate with the executive team to effectively lead a school-wide culture focused on high performance, continuous improvement, and data-informed decision-making.

In addition to the general selection criteria, the successful candidate will possess:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, and classroom practice.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
