Job Title

Our team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep of our icebreaker, the RSV Nuyina. This key role involves ensuring the reliable operation of the vessel by monitoring and reviewing maintenance activities, managing defects, and coordinating maintenance efforts.

">Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and review the completion of planned and unplanned maintenance activities
  • Manage and report defects arising during the latent defect period and through the vessel's life
  • Coordinate the conduct of maintenance on the RSV Nuyina jointly with internal stakeholders
  • Implement and refine management plans, processes, procedures, and guidelines for the maritime asset management team

Requirements

  • Well-formed knowledge of ship systems and maintenance management practices
  • Knowledge of maintenance management and asset management systems and processes
  • Problem-solving skills, including proven ability to critically interrogate and analyze issues
  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level motivation, drive, initiative, and ability to operate effectively with a considerable degree of independence

Working Environment

The Operations and Logistics Branch oversees our operations in Antarctica, supporting people in our year-round research stations and remote field bases. The branch also oversees air and sea transport to transport expeditioners south and enable them to travel around Antarctica.
