Role Overview

The role of a SEN Teaching Assistant is to provide support to children with special educational needs in a Reception class at a primary school.

This is an ideal position for someone passionate about early years and inclusive education who wants to make a positive impact on the lives of young children.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support, and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic development.

  • Deliver high-quality support to children with SEN in a Reception class
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children's social, emotional, and academic growth

Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEN in a Reception class
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to design and deliver personalized support plans
  • Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes children's well-being and academic achievement

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a primary school setting (Early Years experience desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one
  • Relevant qualifications or training in teaching or childcare (desirable but not essential)
