Software Asset Management Expert

Job Description:

The Software Asset Management Analyst is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of software assets across our organization. This role ensures compliance, optimizes licensing costs, and maintains accurate software inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Asset Lifecycle Management: Manage procurement, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and retirement of software assets across the IT environment.
  • License Compliance & Optimization: Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and identify opportunities to optimize usage and reduce costs.
  • SAM Tool Administration: Administer and maintain SAM tools to ensure accurate asset tracking and reporting.
  • Audit Readiness & Support: Prepare and support internal and external software audits to maintain a defensible position.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Conduct regular reconciliation of software assets to maintain up-to-date inventories.
  • Vendor & Contract Management Support: Collaborate with Procurement and Vendor Management teams to review software contracts and EULAs.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and refine SAM processes, policies, and best practices to ensure scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with IT Security, Compliance, Procurement, and Finance teams to support software governance and risk management.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in IT Asset Management with a strong focus on Software Asset Management (SAM).
  • In-depth knowledge of software licensing models across major vendors.
  • Hands-on experience with SAM tools such as Flexera, Snow Software, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with software audit processes and compliance reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL Asset & Configuration Management practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis/reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • ITAM or SAM certifications are highly preferred.
