Position OverviewThis role is also advertised under the title of Allied Health - Triage OPMHS, with only one position available based on merit. A Multi Disciplinary Allowance is applicable for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the intake process for clients entering the Older Persons Mental Health Services South-Community Team (OPMHSS-CT), including new and re-referrals.
- Conduct initial evaluations and triage of all contacts during office hours to assess the nature and suitability of referrals, develop an initial service response, and prioritize management actions.
- Collaborate with the Access Mental Health Service to facilitate client entry to OPMHSS-CT for referrals received outside standard business hours.
- Provide assertive, comprehensive community-based mental health triage services, including assessments, mental state evaluations, risk assessments, management plan formulation, and referral facilitation.
- Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and ensure effective handovers of referrals to OPMHS and other statewide mental health service streams as necessary.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication channels with a diverse range of stakeholders to enhance timely access to specialized services.
- As this is a newly created role, it presents an opportunity for innovation and development within the team during a period of reform.

Appointment Details:
This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 76 hours of work per fortnight, with a start date to be negotiated with the successful candidate.
- Note: This selection process may be utilized to fill subsequent or similar full-time and part-time vacancies for a period of twelve months from the publication date.
Compensation: The salary range is $111,506 - $118,336 per annum, with an additional 11.5% superannuation contribution from the employer.
- This salary range aligns with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.
- A relocation payment of $15,000, distributed over three years, is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania and maintain full-time employment for three years or more.
Essential Criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Possession of a current Driver's Licence.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Possession or pursuit of relevant postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health.
Pre-employment Requirements:
The Head of the State Service mandates that the selected candidate must undergo a pre-employment check, which includes:
- Criminal background checks in specified areas.
