Job Title: Senior Regulatory Officer

The Department of Education sets the foundations for quality early learning experiences and delivers world-class education services. The department hosts the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, which is responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services.


Job Description:

The Senior Regulatory Officer supports the ECRA by consistently and fairly applying relevant early childhood education and care legislation, standards, policies, and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy.


This role involves developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve regulatory outcomes. The Senior Regulatory Officer reports to the Manager, Regulation, in each Regional Office, Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, Early Childhood, Regulation and Communication Division.


Responsibilities Include:
  • Consistently and fairly applying relevant ECEC legislation, standards, policies, and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy.
  • Conducting assessment and rating of education and care services across Queensland.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Regional Offices, and ECEC providers and services, to achieve regulatory outcomes.
  • Other suitable duties consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience as a regulator or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of regulating the ECEC sector.
  • Experience in conducting assessment and rating or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and complete training in conducting assessment and rating.
  • Ability to analyze evidence and create analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects and tasks efficiently, with decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage risk and prioritize the work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders.
  • A passion for early childhood, with a focus on the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children attending early childhood education and care services.
