
Diagnostic Specimen Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pathology Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the processing and analysis of specimens for diagnostic testing.
About the RoleThe primary function of this position is to provide support to scientists in the laboratory, ensuring that specimens are processed efficiently and accurately. This involves operating and maintaining analysers, handling specimens from receipt to results, and assisting with data entry and filing.
Key Responsibilities- Routine receipting and processing of specimens, including operation and maintenance of analysers.
- Pre and post-analytical specimen handling, identification, and prioritization of urgent specimens.
- Filing and storage of specimens, data entry, and assisting scientists as required.
- Continuous learning of processing requirements for different types of samples and tests.
- Respond to results, sample requirements, and general queries.
- Identify and resolve problems at the pre-analytic stage, ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with Departmental and Organisational policies and procedures.
- Certificate in pathology and/or laboratory skills and techniques or equivalent.
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems.
- Problem-solving, working independently, and achieving objectives beyond expectations.
- Prioritizing and managing workload to ensure deadlines are met, working under pressure, and being a team member who can be relied on.
- Acting in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner at all times, and acting as an ambassador of the Company.
