Midwifery Unit Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Nurse/Midwife to join our team as a Midwifery Unit Manager. This role involves coordinating patient care delivery within a health unit or community service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient care delivery using clinical knowledge and experience.
  • Manage and lead nursing/midwifery and multidisciplinary team activities to ensure continuity and quality of care and outcomes.
  • Accept accountability for nursing/midwifery practices and multidisciplinary outcomes in the specific practice setting.
  • Address inconsistencies between practice and policy to align with best practices.
  • Develop team performance and foster a positive work culture to enhance patient/client outcomes.

Requirements:

  • A registered or eligible midwife or nurse/midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate.
  • A registered midwife or nurse/midwife with at least 3 years post graduation experience or currently classified as a Clinical Midwife or Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing/midwifery practice in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and relevant professional college standards of practice.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to review and improve models of care to be person and family centred.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential.
