About the Role

We are seeking highly skilled Legal Officers to join our team in the Policy, Regulation and Legal Branch of the Australian Department of Finance. As a Legal Officer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality legal advice and assurance services to support the implementation of the DATA Scheme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to the Minister for Finance, the Commissioner, and other stakeholders on data sharing and governance matters.
  • Work collaboratively with internal clients and external stakeholders to develop and implement policies and procedures related to data sharing and governance.
  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging issues in data sharing and governance, and provide recommendations to senior executives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and academia.
Requirements
  • A tertiary degree in Law from an Australian tertiary institution (or comparable overseas degree).
  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory, or meet the necessary requirements to be admitted.
  • A Practicing Certificate.
