Psychiatrist Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced psychiatrist to join our Child Youth and Family Mental Health team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide medical leadership and work closely with our senior team to deliver innovative, collaborative, and best practice care to children and young people aged 0-17 years who are experiencing acute mental distress.

This role requires the successful applicant to possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent as provided by the Health Insurance Act 1997.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise and experience in providing effective, high-quality mental health services in a psychiatry setting, with a strong commitment to person-centered, recovery-oriented, family-inclusive, trauma-informed, and need-adapted principles of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless provision of care for this population
  • Participate in a district-wide CYF-MH Consultant after-hours roster
  • Contribute to other parts of the Mental Health Service

Selection Criteria

  • Possess or be eligible for registration with AHPRA
  • Fellowship of RANZCP or equivalent
  • Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Current NSW driver's licence
  • Demonstrated commitment to Continuing Professional Development and reflective practice
  • Expertise and experience in providing effective, high-quality mental health services in a psychiatry setting
  • Commitment to person-centered, recovery-oriented, family-inclusive, trauma-informed, and need-adapted principles of care
  • Ability to support and work collaboratively in interprofessional contexts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, inclusively, and respectfully
  • Word processing skills necessary to complete expert documentation
  • Experience in or capacity for supporting quality improvement and clinical governance activities
  • Commitment to high-quality care provision in the public sector
  • Familiarity with and support of basic, clinical, and applied research activities relevant to the needs of the Mental Health Service and its staff
