Job Overview

The role of a Specimen Preparation Specialist involves the pre-analytical and cut-up aspects of Anatomical Pathology.

Working as a member of the Anatomical Pathology team, this specialist will report to the SHS in Charge of Anatomical Pathology with accountabilities to the supervising Pathologist for specimen management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triaging and direct transfer of specimens
  • Performing non-complex and complex specimen dissection and direct transfer
  • Leading a team in the specimen reception and cut-up areas
  • Ensuring safe and efficient daily operation of the space
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification
  • Post graduate study in specimen dissection and/or extensive proficiency performing non-complex and complex specimen dissection and direct transfer
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Initiative, self-directed approach, and commitment to ongoing learning and development
