Job Description

We are seeking experienced Medical Oncology professionals to join our team at a brand new oncology infusion centre in Adelaide. This is a unique opportunity to work with a large cancer care provider, providing systemic therapy, radiation therapy, medical oncology, and haematology oncology consulting.

You will provide expert clinical care, education, and support the delivery of an exceptional patient experience as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent patient care, ensuring patients' physical and psychological needs are met while undergoing cancer treatment in our infusion suite.
  • Providing education and support for patients.
  • Delivering cancer treatment and supportive medication administration as per prescribed protocols.
  • Effectively managing nursing patient load.
  • Facilitating effective lines of communication with medical officers, patient services staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Providing patient feedback to the team.
  • Ensuring all patient listed events are documented, communicated, and actioned.
  • Monitoring and maintaining procedures, protocols, practices, and clinical guidelines in line with best practice medical oncology nursing standards.
  • Establishing communication for allied health services using ISBAR communication tool to all allied health services along with supported documented evidence.
  • Complying with patient handover procedures as per ISBAR communication tool.
  • Supporting the clinical introduction of new medications/drugs and nursing products by demonstrating knowledge and application in the patient care setting.
  • Having opportunities to work across radiation therapy and medical oncology if desired.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Current AHPRA registration.
  • Medical oncology and chemotherapy administration experience in a clinical setting with 3 years' experience.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to demonstrate empathy for patients.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to the application of quality improvement and best practice principles, including the NSQHS.
  • Strong commitment to quality patient care.
  • Interest in continuing your professional development.
  • Ability to use electronic clinical administration systems.
