Lead a Dynamic Contemporary Collecting Program

As the Head of Collection Curation at Davidson, you will be responsible for developing and curating a diverse state collection across all formats, and associated collections that support the people of Victoria, to learn, research, create and thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collection Commissioning Program: Establish a program to nurture community-driven collecting, increase the visibility and voices of diverse communities in the collection, and enrich the Library's collecting practices.
  • Collection Management Operations: Simplify and streamline collection management operations through a systematic continuous improvement program.
  • Exhibition Program: Showcase collections and support the delivery of the Library's rich exhibition program by providing strategic advice, specialist knowledge, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

You will have an extensive knowledge of collection development and management in a large collecting institution, including trends and contemporary practice in the lifecycle of collection acquisition and management. Understanding the beliefs, customs, needs and expectations of the Victorian community, you will have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline including Information Management, Cultural Heritage, Curation or Museum studies.

A strong and contemporary people leader, you will have the ability to encourage and coordinate the performance of a group of people to deliver on agreed outcomes, while bringing individual teams together to adopt contemporary ways of working. Curating a sustainable digital collection program, you will ensure the collection accurately represents diverse communities – ensuring all Victorians feel represented at the Library.
