Community Corrections Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Corrections Officer to join our team at the Silverwater Parole Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing support to offenders and stakeholders, while also contributing to the development of evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-level verbal and written communication skills, including interviewing skills
- Develop and implement evidence-based interventions to support offenders
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including Serious Offenders Review Council (SORC), Justice Health (JH), and other agencies
- Manage a caseload of high-risk offenders and provide advice to releasing authorities
- Embed evidence-based practices across all areas of work and target responses to areas that will allow the greatest impacts to be made
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- High-level negotiation, conflict resolution, and analytical skills
- Experience or knowledge of court processes, prosecutions, or related areas
- An ability to provide human services in needs assessment and development of interventions
- Capability to provide evidence-based advice and recommendations to the court that maximise offender responsiveness to interventions
- An ability to manage offenders exhibiting challenging behaviours and escalate as required
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work within strict timeframes
The Silverwater Parole Unit is a large Community Corrections office within the Metropolitan West District, overseeing the releases of inmates across four correctional centres and one transitional centre.
