Health, Safety and Environment Specialist

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Business Partner to join our Australia and New Zealand team. Based in Townsville, this role will play a key part in driving HSE leadership across the business.
The successful candidate will be a valued member of a dynamic, inclusive and supportive team. As an HSE Business Partner, you will serve as a consultant to the business on health, safety and environment-related issues and deliver value-added services through collaborative partnerships across the organisation.
You will drive and demonstrate HSE leadership with managers and employees to ensure everyone understands, believes and connects with HSE matters on a personal level. You will build strong relationships with managers and employees to engage people in HSE practices and a safety culture for Penske's Australia and New Zealand business operations.
This is an operationally focused role best suited to a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with the business. You will support the development of management capability and coach managers and supervisors on best practice health and safety initiatives.
To succeed in this role, you will require relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification in OH&S – minimum Diploma OH&S. You will also need a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (desired, not essential), and Qualified Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator certification.
With at least 7 years of working experience with WHS and Environmental systems, you will have implemented and maintained best practice WHS and Environmental programs. Your good knowledge and understanding of federal and state legislation related to WHS and Environment will be essential. Experience in rehabilitation and return-to-work programs, managing Workers Compensation/ACC, and training and coaching managers and employees on safety and environment programs are also necessary.
