At Penske Transportation Solutions, we are currently seeking an experienced Health and Environmental Specialist to join our dynamic team in Australia and New Zealand.

The successful candidate will serve as a consultant to the business on health, safety, and environmental matters, delivering value-added services to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organisation.

The role will involve:

  • Driving and demonstrating HSE leadership with managers and employees to ensure everyone understands, believes, and connects with HSE matters on a personal level.
  • Building strong relationships with managers and employees to engage people in HSE practices and a safety culture for Penske's Australia and New Zealand business operations.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining a Management System that matches Penske's, legislative, and ISO requirements in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), Environment.
  • Providing an effective Risk Management approach to ensure best practice WHS and Environmental management for Penske's business operations.
  • Ensuring HSE policies and procedures are embedded in Penske's business operations.
  • Assisting in the implementation of Wellbeing strategies across the Penske business operations.

This is an operationally focused role best suited to a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who enjoys working closely with the business.

Key requirements include:

  • Relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification in OH&S – Minimum Diploma OH&S.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (desired, not essential).
  • Qualified Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator.
  • Certified IMS Auditor (preferred).
  • Incident Lead Investigator trained (ICAM preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years working experience with WHS and Environmental systems.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining best practice WHS and Environmental programs.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of federal and state legislation related to WHS and Environment.
  • Experience in Rehabilitation and Return to Work programs.
  • Proven experience managing Workers Compensation/ACC, including claims, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to train and coach managers and employees on Safety and Environment programs including Workers Compensation/rehabilitation.
  • Established competence in auditing (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience in managing external stakeholders, contractors, and apprentices.
  • Knowledge and experience in Wellbeing and successful implementation of such programs.
