Disability Support Worker

We are seeking experienced individuals to provide one-to-one or two-to-one support to participants, helping them engage and enhance their daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, and build confidence and independence.

About the Role:

  • You will have excellent people skills and experience in mental health care, with a sound understanding of NDIS requirements.
  • You will be passionate and dedicated to supporting individuals to realize their full potential and assisting them in their daily lives.
  • You will perform personal care for participants, including assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming.
  • You will conduct manual handling tasks in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • You will have experience working and supporting participants in Supported Independent Living, advocating for their choices and empowering them to achieve their goals.
  • You will have experience providing care within the participants' home and community access, e.g. shopping, medical appointments, hobbies, etc.
  • You will be able to build independence and capacity for participants with psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, mental health, and/or physical health needs.
  • You will be able to evaluate every situation from a trauma-informed perspective and act in a manner that enhances the lives of our participants.
  • You will have at least one year of experience managing challenging behaviours and providing positive behaviour support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will have experience working with participants who have ASD Level 3, Reactive Attachment disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
  • You will work with complex care needs and moderate to high challenging behaviours.
  • You will have previous experience in supporting participants with Intellectual and Learning Disability.
  • You will commit to engaging with services within the scope of participant positive behaviour support plans, individual behaviour protocols, and programs.
  • You will be comfortable with personal care, including assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming.
  • You will provide intensive daily support to both young people and adults engaging with our services.
  • You will document detailed shift reports, progress reporting, incident reporting, and other data capturing requirements during shifts.
  • You will assist in scheduling and attending appointments, social events, recreational activities, and shopping.
  • You will plan and prepare meals.
  • You will perform light cleaning and other domestic duties.
