The scholarship offers financial support for PhD studies, focusing on developing software systems that positively impact society.

About the Opportunity

This prestigious scholarship provides a training allowance of $5,000 AUD per annum for three years, travel expenses of $5,000 AUD, and thesis allowances of $840 AUD. Additionally, recipients will receive a cost of living allowance of $5,000 AUD, paid in two instalments of $2,000 and $3,000.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria:

  • A bachelor's honours degree in computer science, software engineering, or information technology with a First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Division A overall average grade; or
  • A master's degree in a relevant discipline with a research thesis or project equivalent to at least 25% of one year of full-time study and a First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Division A overall average grade; or
  • A qualification deemed equivalent by the Monash Graduate Research Committee

Required skills include strong software development skills, a passion for improving technical knowledge, and deploying real-world AI systems. Familiarity with quantitative research methods is also essential.

Selection Process

The selection process involves a two-stage evaluation:

  1. Expression of Interest (EOI) submissions requiring attachments such as a cover letter, curriculum vitae, academic transcripts, contact details for referees, and evidence of citizenship/residency status
  2. An interview with shortlisted applicants
