Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Propulsion Operations Engineer I to join our team at Whitsunday Regional Council. As a key member of our Launch Vehicle Operations team, you will be responsible for assisting in the final testing and integration of launch vehicle stages and the execution of launch operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the completion of integration activities of components, sub-systems, and payloads on orbital and sub-orbital class launch vehicles
  • Participate effectively as part of a launch operations team for the purpose of preparing for and executing successful launch missions
  • Operate Ground Support Equipment and Ground Launch Systems during high level system testing
  • Operation of test stands and infrastructure to efficiently, effectively and safely execute rocket engine and sub-system testing
  • Support the development of and execute maintenance plans for test infrastructure, stands, and associated systems
  • Prepare and conduct testing and test reviews in accordance with policies, plans and procedures
  • Troubleshoot test systems and articles and perform root cause analysis
  • Support research, development, qualification and acceptance tests of launch vehicle sub-systems
  • Develop and review procedures and checklist for executing testing and integration operations and maintenance
  • Develop and review procedures for manufacturing and maintaining test components, assets and infrastructure
  • Other duties as requested by Management
Requirements
  • Sustained enthusiasm and interest in space technology and its application for space commercialisation and exploration
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Experience testing, maintaining and operating aerospace systems and associated ground support plant and equipment overseeing operational activities
  • Experience conducting risk management activities and a good understanding of risk management processes
  • Experience participating in multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and technicians
  • Exceptional work ethic, initiative, attention to detail and ability to obtain and retain new information
  • Demonstrated resilience and ability to work well in a safety critical, dynamic environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) with technicians, supervisors, engineers, and any other support departments
  • Experience working well with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with setting targets and expectations, and then working with a team to reach these targets, and ability to track progress
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation/requirements
  • Experience delivering positive and constructive feedback to individuals
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments in a fast-paced work environment
