About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team at Healthscope. As a Clinical Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of clinical coding, which is essential for maintaining high-quality patient data and supporting informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Timely and Accurate Clinical Coding: You will be responsible for coding patient records accurately and efficiently, ensuring that all relevant information is captured and documented.
  2. Participation in Case Mix Analysis, Education & Quality Activities: You will contribute to the development and implementation of case mix analysis, education, and quality initiatives, which will help to improve coding accuracy and patient outcomes.
  3. Clinical Documentation Improvement Initiatives: You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to improve the quality and consistency of clinical documentation, ensuring that patient records are accurate and complete.
  4. Participation in Audits: You will participate in audits and quality assurance activities to ensure that coding practices are in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  1. HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding: You must hold a current certification in clinical coding from the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA).
  2. Experience in ICD-10-AM, ACHI & ACS: You must have extensive experience in using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS coding systems.
  3. Sound Understanding of Codefinder & Turbocoder: You must have a strong understanding of Codefinder and Turbocoder software systems.
  4. Strong Organisational Skills: You must possess excellent organisational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage workloads effectively.
  5. Excellent Communication Skills: You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
  6. Ability to Work in a Team Environment: You must be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
  7. Sound Knowledge of Private Sector Funding Models: You must have a sound understanding of private sector funding models and their application in healthcare.
  8. Demonstrated Understanding of WebPAS Patient Information System: You must have a demonstrated understanding of the WebPAS patient information system.
