About the Dental Assistant Role

Our organisation aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.

We provide oral health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in various locations across different regions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to clinicians in patient care including preparation of equipment and materials for dental procedures; manage patient well-being; provide appropriate oral health care and post-operative instruction.
  • Maintain high infection control standards in accordance with Australian Dental Association guidelines and NSW Health standards.
  • Ensure quality data management through correct use of digital information systems and patient records.
  • Participate in mandatory training as required and attend meetings as necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to assist clinicians in a four-handed environment with various dental procedures.
  • Ability to perform effective infection control procedures and proficiency in dental charting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including comprehension and following instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a large team and liaise with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Organisational, time-management, and problem-solving skills are essential.
