Procurement Leadership Role

The role of a Procurement Leader involves overseeing the entire procurement lifecycle, ensuring business requirements are met while delivering value for money.

This includes managing a diverse range of procurement activities across goods, services, and low-value construction contracts, as well as collaborating with senior leadership on procurement planning and performance.

Strategic thinking is key to this role, requiring the development of long-term procurement strategies that align with business objectives.

A key aspect of this role is providing expert advice and strategic insights to optimise procurement practices, analyse market trends, and identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements.

  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies that meet business objectives.
  • Providing guidance on procurement best practices and supplier management.
  • Analysing market data and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Operational Responsibilities

As a Procurement Leader, you will oversee the procurement process from sourcing to contract management, ensuring compliance and resolving issues.

This includes maintaining supplier relationships, managing supplier performance, and negotiating terms.

You will also be responsible for handling minor construction contracts and ensuring their execution in line with organisational requirements.

  • Managing day-to-day procurement activities, including purchasing and contract management.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks associated with procurement activities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Diploma level qualifications in procurement, supply chain, or related field.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in a computerised ERP environment.
  • 10+ years of Supply Chain / Procurement experience.
  • CIPS qualifications in supply chain management.
