Lead Mental Health and Disability Investigator

Court Services Victoria delivers corporate services and facilities to support the judicial, quasi-judicial, and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal.

The Coroners Court of Victoria is responsible for independently investigating deaths and fires. The Lead Mental Health and Disability Investigator will oversee a multi-disciplinary investigation team within the Coroners Prevention Unit to deliver exceptional outcomes to Coroners and service users.

The role involves providing specialist advisory and investigative case management support on mental health and disability related deaths, reviewing clinical evidence and information to identify contributing and remediable factors, and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the priorities of the CPU and CCOV.

About You

As the Lead Mental Health and Disability Investigator, you will be a strategic leader with excellent communication skills and a commitment to public health and safety. You will also possess:

  • A thorough understanding and clinical experience in mental health services and systems in Victoria.
  • Advanced case management and investigative skills and experience.
  • A relevant clinical mental health-related qualification and current APHRA or AASW registration is essential.
  • An ability to manage and mentor staff, developing capability and continuous improvement within the team.
  • An understanding of the disability sector will be an advantage.
