Companion Shopping Assistant

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to positively impact the lives of senior adults in North Turramurra.

We are seeking volunteers who can provide support and companionship to residents in care, accompanying them on a regular basis to nearby shops at Macquarie Centre. The role involves transporting a resident to and from the centre, assisting them during their visit (e.g., carrying bags, engaging in conversation, enjoying coffee together).

The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the quality of life and alleviate feelings of isolation among older individuals. Regular interactions can bring joy to the residents you will be matched with.

This program is part of a broader scheme aimed at fostering connections between elderly people and community volunteers, supported by the Australian Government.

About This Role:

  • Assist residents in care to attend local shopping centres
  • Provide social interaction and companionship
  • Enhance quality of life and reduce feelings of isolation among older adults

Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid National Volunteer Police Check
  • Hold an NDIS Worker Screening Check
