As a seasoned professional, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the legal and risk function of a high-growth organisation. The successful candidate will lead the legal function across Australia and New Zealand, responsible for enterprise risk, governance, compliance, and company secretarial duties.

About the Role

This strategic and hands-on position requires advising the business on commercial, operational, and regulatory matters while ensuring legal frameworks and risk management systems are robust and future-focused. Key responsibilities include providing high-level legal advice on commercial risks, acquisitions, divestments, contracts, leases, and litigation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Legal Advice & Support
    • Provide expert legal counsel on commercial transactions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
    • Manage contract governance, including terms and obligations registers, to mitigate risk.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with external legal providers to ensure quality, value, and alignment.
    • Ensure appropriate insurance coverage is in place, cost-effective, and fit for purpose.
  • Legal Administration
    • Perform company secretary duties for Australian operations, ensuring seamless compliance.
    • Oversee lease administration, working closely with the Property and Facilities team.
    • Lead the development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
    • Ensure compliance with key legislative obligations, including Privacy, Modern Slavery, Conflict of Interest, and Anti-Bribery.
    • Develop organisational strategies, systems, and policies that foster a proactive risk management culture.
    • Collaborate with executives, operations, and functional leaders to integrate strategic outcomes into daily operations.
    • Provide guidance and coaching to team members and stakeholders on legal and risk matters.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated senior legal leadership experience, preferably in a regulated or complex operational environment.
  • Strong track record of commercial acumen, balancing strategic priorities and operational legal work.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to drive results.
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, admission to practice in Australia, and current practising certificate.
