This role involves high-level procurement activities, including developing and implementing strategies for operational teams, preparing and calling tenders for various categories, providing guidance on purchasing and associated policies, maintaining awareness of current industry practices, and establishing relationships with suppliers and contractors.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to facilitate changes through training and education programs, and strive for continuous improvement within procurement functions.

About The Role

In this key position, you will contribute to QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing exceptional procurement services and developing 'best practice' in contract management and tender evaluation.

Duties And Skills Involved
  • Communication: Communicate procurement strategies and facilitate changes to traditional procurement practices through training and education programs.
  • Tender Preparation: Prepare and call tenders for various categories involving construction, maintenance, consulting, and upgrade activities.
  • Purchasing Guidance: Provide guidance and assistance to operational teams in purchasing and associated policies, including pricing of future works.
  • Continuous Improvement: Strive for continuous improvement within procurement and estimating functions, maintaining awareness of current industry practices.
  • Relationship Building: Establish working relationships with suppliers and contractors to contribute to the development and implementation of standing offer agreements and building contracts.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver procurement and contract management training programs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Procedure Maintenance: Maintain procurement instructions, procedures, and guidelines in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Central Procurement Office.
  • Work Performance Management: Proactively manage work performance and personal conduct of staff.
