Job Title: Director of Data Governance

Job Summary:

The National Indigenous Australians Agency is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Governance to lead the development and implementation of data governance strategies across the agency. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance, technical advice, and lead external engagement and coordination across branches with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data governance strategies to ensure project alignment across various work streams and agency strategies related to data.
  • Collaborate with other branches and programs, including external committees run by the Department of Finance.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on data governance and digital initiatives.
  • Lead external engagement and coordination across branches with key stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Ability to establish standards and guidelines on how large and complex datasets could be interpreted to inform consistent decision-making.
  • Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, promoting the Agency's business objectives.
  • Communicate and make decisions that may have significant impact on the day-to-day operation of the work area and other parts of the Agency.
  • Apply and maintain an extensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Agency, incorporating a comprehensive understanding of the Agency's impact on the wider political and community context in which it operates.
