Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Construction Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule projects efficiently, allocating time and resources to meet deadlines
  • Coordinate labour requirements, dispatching workers to construction sites as needed
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients
  • Prepare contracts, negotiate revisions, and manage contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses
  • Supervise and direct workers on-site
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods
  • Select, contract, and oversee workers completing specific tasks
  • Manage requisitioning of supplies and materials
  • Prepare budget estimates and progress reports
  • Develop and implement quality control programs
  • Address delays, weather-related issues, or emergencies at construction sites
  • Collaborate with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve matters
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities related to construction and maintenance
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays, ensuring proper procedures are followed
  • Evaluate construction methods for cost-effectiveness
  • Direct land acquisition for construction projects
  • Demonstrate positive leadership behaviours

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the building and construction industry
  • Proven working knowledge of materials, methods, and machines/tools involved in commercial and residential construction
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge of customer service principles
  • Understanding of public safety and security principles
  • Experience with business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership
  • High-level problem-solving, judgement, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
