About the Role

We are seeking a skilled VMware Consultant to join our team. As a consultant, you will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills and communication and collaboration skills to help customers achieve their full potential through technology.

You will work on long-term engagements or multiple short-term projects designed to bring about rapid, controlled change and strategic improvement for customers. Your activities will be aligned with delivering best-practice designs and deployments to help customers achieve their desired outcomes while using technology.

The number of customers will vary depending on your preferred area of specialization. You will work across various industries, from defense to intelligence, law enforcement, social services, health, science, industry, infrastructure, finance, foreign affairs, home affairs, and parliamentary departments. You may also work with universities, institutes, telcos, and public and private sector firms across Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into robust, scalable solutions with flexible architectures.
  • Assist in designing and implementing large-scale software defined data centers and automation capabilities.
  • Contribute towards tooling & standards to improve solution productivity and quality.
  • Automate infrastructure deployment using scripting languages and markup.
  • Develop using PowerShell, bash, or JavaScript.
  • Define data center parameters in Spreadsheets, YAML/XAML, and JSON and deploy solutions using software-driven solutions.
  • Understand and influence best practices for observability & devsecops.
  • Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service modeling and production support for customers.
Success Metrics

During the first year, you will onboard into the Consultant role and work with assigned customers. Key performance outcomes include:

  • Completing an up to six-week onboarding plan.
  • Developing & maintaining deep technical knowledge & skills for a given VMware technology area and core virtualization capabilities.
  • Engaging with customers and working on long-term engagements or shorter-term projects with other consultants in the team.
  • Articulating achievements in projects and identifying opportunities for customers to gain more from technology.
  • Partnering with customers to accelerate their desired outcomes through best practice designs and deployments that enable rapid adoption of technology.
  • Educating customers on solutions deployed for them so they can move into day-2 operations seamlessly.
  • Leading design workshops and technical discussions with customers, relying less and less on support of other consultants and more and more on your developing skills and experience.
  • Serving as an advocate for customers and technology providers.
  • Aiming to achieve your VCP (VMware Certified Professional) to help you achieve your goals and objectives.
