Software Developer Position

This is a dynamic opportunity for a skilled software developer passionate about open-source software, Linux systems, and software architectures. We are looking for someone with relevant experience in Go programming language, ideally in the world of cloud-native software and Linux.

You will be working on critical toolchains involved in the making of Ubuntu and pillars of the modern software ecosystem. You will leverage your experience and passion in Go to make Ubuntu a premier platform for developing, distributing, and consuming software built with Go.

  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
  • Select, integrate, and package best-of-breed tooling with Ubuntu to enhance developer and operator experience with Go
  • Write high-quality code to create new features
  • Debug issues and produce high-quality code to fix them
  • Review code produced by other engineers
  • Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions

The role involves global travel for internal and external events.

Requirements
  • Relevant Go experience, ideally in the world of cloud-native software and Linux
  • Experience in packaging software for Debian and Ubuntu
  • Long-time Linux user
  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
