At the YMCA, we are seeking an experienced Educational Leader to join our team at Yandina Outside School Hours Care.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the education program, promoting children's well-being, development, and learning. This involves providing high-quality care, activities, and educational elements, managing and promoting a team environment, and working within the organization's philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the educational program and assessment with the support of Assistant Coordinator / Coordinator.
  • Ensure children's learning and development inform the design of the educational program, and Educators facilitate and extend each child's learning and development.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, staff, and all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to educators' educational programs and practices.
  • Mentor and support educators in understanding the educational program and practice, including reflection on effectiveness, interactions, intentional teaching, and other strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with policy.
  • Undertake administrative requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent and demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education.
  • Substantial experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of the approved learning framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child development, attachment, and learning.
  • Understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Working knowledge of leadership theory and various leadership styles.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze and challenge conventional practices.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Possession or willingness to obtain a Blue Card.
