Consultant in Geriatric Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant in Geriatric Medicine to join our multidisciplinary team at Ipswich Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced healthcare professional to provide high-quality care to patients with complex medical needs, working closely with a dynamic team of nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.

The role offers flexible working opportunities, including full-time, part-time, and flexible schedules. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive geriatric assessments, developing and implementing effective care plans, and leading clinical governance meetings.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Detailed knowledge of Geriatrics and G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this post
  • Ability to take on independent clinical responsibility while working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality patient care and contributing to ward rounds and clinical discussions
  • Developing and maintaining good working practices within wards, outpatients, and A&E
  • Collaborating and promoting close working links with colleagues in tertiary centers, community services, and primary care

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, requiring a submission for Disclosure to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate will hold MRCP or equivalent qualification, inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatrics and General (Internal Medicine) or within six months of expected date of CCT (or be eligible for entry onto these registers within six months of application).
