We are seeking a skilled Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a member of the laboratory team, you will play a vital role in supporting the efficient processing of specimens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiology setup and quality control checks.
  • Monitor the receipt and distribution of specimens.
  • Efficiently process a range of specimen types.
  • Operate laboratory equipment.
  • Provide administrative support with data entry and clerical tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and participate in teamwork.

In this role, you will work closely with other team members to ensure accurate and timely results. You will also have the opportunity to exercise initiative in resolving moderately complex problems.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated operational knowledge of specimen processing and preparation.
  • Word processing skills and computer data input and retrieval skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with attention to detail.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in laboratory equipment usage.

A relevant qualification (Cert III Laboratory Assistance) is well regarded but not mandatory. Please note that the employee must be vaccinated against certain vaccine preventable diseases during their employment.
