
National Park Conservation Specialist

We are seeking a Field Officer Grade 1/2 to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking a diverse range of tasks including the construction, maintenance and improvements of national parks and facilities.
About the RoleField officers are the backbone of our operations, working in dynamic and at times autonomous work sites. You will be required to think on your feet and make strong decisions under pressure.
The role involves operating and maintaining minor plant and equipment, as well as assisting with fire management activities and undertaking pest and weed control programs.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake pest and weed control programs using pesticides, chemicals and firearms.
- Assist with fire management activities, including controlled hazard reductions and wildfire responses.
- Operate and maintain minor plant and equipment.
- Work in dynamic and autonomous work sites, requiring strong decision-making skills and adaptability.
- Current Driver's Licence and ability to drive 4wd vehicles.
- Ability to obtain MR licence and operate 4wd vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes/15 tonne GVM within the probationary period.
- Demonstrated ability and experience to carry out all duties safely.
- Certification or ability to obtain certification in operating a chainsaw and two-way radio.
- Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and support roles, including obtaining and maintaining certification as crew member.
