Job Summary

The Financial Assistance Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial well-being of patients at our health system. This key position requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to navigate complex government programs and regulations.

  • Main Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough financial assessments of uninsured or underinsured patients to identify potential eligibility for third-party resources.

    • Analyze patient income, assets, household composition, and physical conditions to determine eligibility for government-funded health programs.

    • Maintain timely and effective communication with patients and their representatives to ensure complete understanding of Health Programs processes.

    • Facilitate the application process by assisting patients in completing applications, scheduling appointments, and obtaining required verifications.

    • Represent patients who cannot represent themselves at government offices, social services agencies, and other relevant institutions.

    • Stay up-to-date on policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and technical objectives related to government programs, including Medicaid, SSI, SSA, AHCA, Medicare, Benefit Recovery, Child Support Enforcement, Foster Care, Adult Protection, Victim Compensation, and Labor Department.

    • Meet minimum conversion goals and maintain high standards of accounts and dollars to protect our health system's financial standing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: A minimum of two years of college or two years of experience in business, social services, healthcare, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education, experience, and/or training.

  • Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of Medical Assistance application processes, HIPAA privacy rules, Microsoft programs, database programs, and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and speak clearly and distinctly.
