We are seeking an experienced Actuary Data Scientist to join our team at the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) in a leadership position. The successful candidate will provide technical, professional, policy, operational support, and advice in relation to complex problems.
Key Responsibilities- Manage reporting, analysis, and data management activities to ensure accurate and timely delivery of results.
- Utilize statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to undertake analytical work on a range of tasks, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, modelling, and projections.
- Design evidence-based policy in the form of writing complex briefs and slide presentations for senior leadership.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex matters, including policy and legal, to determine requirements and coordinate cross-team support.
- Update and develop regular performance monitoring.
- Support junior staff, delegation, management, and coaching.
- 3+ years of Actuarial or Data Analytics/Science experience supporting policy development.
- Experience managing a small team and internal/external stakeholder engagements.
- Proficient in SAS, SQL, or R programming, including data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling techniques (GLM & GBMs).
- Australian Citizenship essential.
This is a 12-month daily rate contract initially, with potential extension for another 2 x 12 months. Candidates must be based in either Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, or Brisbane. Daily rate will depend on candidate's experience, which will be determined by the NDIA.
